Our History
Musashi Hungary Manufacturing Ltd. was established in March 2000 as the subsidiary of the Japanese MUSASHI Seimitsu Industry Co. It is the second biggest European manufacturing unit of the company group (MUSASHI Auto Parts UK, 1986).
The purpose of setting up the Hungarian plant was to supply automotive parts to European car manufacturers as first level and second level supplier, keeping the well-known and highly acknowledged MUSASHI top quality level. By doing so, our company can further improve its good reputation of its products in Europe, which requires high level precision machining.
The factory, built up by the summer of 2001 in Ercsi, had an area of 7,000 square meters. It started to produce ball joints of steering systems for AUDI at the beginning of 2002. Setting up of the first camshaft production line began in the same year, where production for FIAT diesel engines started in 2003.
Further supplier contracts assured continuous growth and generated growing demands. The launch of two new production lines in 2004 (AUDI control arms and Daimler camshafts) and the capacity improvement regarding the FIAT project in 2005 required area extension. As a result the total area of the plant increased up to 10,000 square meters. The growth of the company was smooth and continuous. After the successful transformation of suspension products (ball joints and control arms) the company realized a total annual revenue of over 40 million EUR in 2006, in the 5th year of its operation.
Unfortunately, the crisis, burst out in the automotive industry in 2008 had a significant negative effect on the operation of Musashi Hungary, too. Besides taking the necessary, internal, crisis management measures, our product portfolio was extended by the products taken over from the Musashi factory in England. Following the successful transfer project, we have been producing camshafts for Jaguar-Land Rover, producing ball joints for certain models of Volvo, have been supplying control arms for Honda factory in Swindon, UK, and have been making wheel hubs for the Hungarian Suzuki since 2009.
The size of the organization as well as the special features of the automotive industry required the introduction of quality assurance systems at our company. Musashi Hungary Ipari Ltd. has had the quality certificate of ISO/TS 16949:2002 since 2003 and we acquired the certificate of ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System in 2005.
The introduction of J-SOX internal process management and controlling system started in 2007. This involved each and every plant of the Musashi group, thus affected Musashi Hungary as well.
The effectiveness of the work has been supported by SAP R/3, integrated company management system since 2008.
In order to have properly adjusted and assured import-export trade processes, Musashi Hungary Manufacturing Ltd. had aimed to gain the AEO status (Authorized Economic Operator), which was successfully achieved in 2010.
